About the Trust
The West End Pay It Forward Trust (WE Pay It Forward) is a permanent, locally controlled charitable endowment dedicated to improving the West End communities of Nucla, Naturita, Bedrock, and Paradox—now and for future generations. Through fundraising, stewardship of endowment funds, and strategic grantmaking, the Trust reinvests in community‑driven projects that strengthen local organizations, meet urgent needs, and “pay it forward.”
Purpose of the Contract Role
WE Pay It Forward seeks a Nonprofit Support & Community Engagement Contractor to provide organizational support related to promotion, fundraising, events, internal administration, and coordination of board‑approved initiatives. This role supports the Trust’s mission and long‑term sustainability by improving communication, systems, and operational continuity.
This position is an independent contractor role and does not create an employment relationship.
Scope of Services
Community Outreach & Promotion
Support WE Pay It Forward’s mission and community impact via fundraising efforts, grant awards, and relationships with donors and award recipients
Assist with website, email, newsletter, and social media updates and content
Draft and organize outreach materials, donor communications, and promotional content
Fundraising, Event & Grant‑Related Support
Assist annual and ongoing fundraising efforts and donor engagement activities
Prepare donor acknowledgments and lists
Assist with planning and coordination of fundraising events, donor gatherings, and community celebrations (potentially 1 to 2 events per year)
Assist with logistics related to the annual Community Grant cycle (1 cycle per year)
Fund, Administrative, Internal Systems & Project Support
Assist with tracking donations, grants awarded, and fundraising activities
Work in conjunction with the Board in organizing goals, priorities, timelines, and work plans related to fundraising, grant cycles, and events
Prepare reports/update for and attend Board meetings once per month
Desired Qualifications
Community-minded, innovative, self-motivated with connection to or understanding of the West End communities
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
High proficiency (or willingness to learn) in social media and utilizing platforms such as Facebook and Instagram
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills along with comfort using common tools such as email platforms, Word, Excel/Sheets, and basic content or donor‑tracking systems
Contract Terms
Independent contractor status
Contractor provides own space, computer, phone, equipment, and tools to complete the scope of work
Compensation: $300/month paid monthly upon invoice with potential for additional monthly compensation following review
Contractor is responsible for all taxes, insurance, and business expenses
Independent Contractor & Governance Clarification
The contractor does not serve in a governance role, has no voting authority, and participates in meetings solely to provide administrative or project support as requested. The contractor retains discretion over the manner and means of performing services and is not subject to day‑to‑day control by the Trust.
